I've been in publishing professionally since 2011. First as a small press publisher, later as a publishing assistant to small businesses. 300+ books behind me before "AI" was a word anyone in this industry was saying. I'm also a retired cover designer, paid for pre-AI work by multiple publishing houses and indie authors.

I put in the work. I did the reps. I earned my stripes. I just work smarter now.

How it actually works

I use AI across my writing and my business. Drafting, research, editing, design support, marketing, backend ops, this website. Sometimes heavily, sometimes barely. Different projects, different mix.

Before AI, I wrote by dictation. AI is the next layer of the same approach. Adaptive tools, used deliberately.

Nothing published under my name gets there without being rewritten, edited, and proofread. By me and usually by at least one other person. The books I publish are books I've felt something reading. That's the bar.

I do the thing. I'm honest that I do the thing.
