Privacy policy.
Effective date: April 2026
Last updated: April 2026
This is the Privacy Policy for angiehartwell.com (the "Site"), operated by Angie Hartwell ("I," "me," "my"). I wrote it to be read, not skimmed past. If you have questions after reading it, the contact form is on the Contact page.
The short version: I collect the minimum I need to run a newsletter and answer messages. I don't track you around the internet. I don't sell your data. I don't run ads.
1. What I collect
If you sign up for the newsletter: your email address, and your name if you choose to give it. That's it.
If you use the contact form: your name, email, and whatever you write in the message.
If you just read the site: your browser sends standard technical information to my hosting provider (things like IP address, browser type, and which page you requested). This happens automatically with any website on the internet. I don't have analytics software reading or storing this. My host keeps basic server logs for security and performance purposes.
I do not collect payment information on this site. I do not collect information from children under 13.
2. How I use it
Newsletter data is used to send you the newsletter. When I send it. Which is not often.
Contact form messages are used to reply to you. If you ask me a question, I answer the question.
Server logs are used by the hosting provider to keep the site running and secure.
That's the full list. I don't use your information for advertising, profiling, or resale. I don't have a marketing automation sequence lying in wait for you.
3. Who else sees it
The Site is small, but a few third-party services help run it. Each has its own privacy policy, linked below.
- MailerLite: email newsletter platform. Stores your email address and name (if provided) to send you the newsletter and manage subscriptions. MailerLite Privacy Policy
- Formspree: contact form processor. Receives your contact form submission, forwards it to my inbox, and stores a copy on their servers. Formspree Privacy Policy
- Railway: hosting provider. Runs the server that serves this site. Railway Privacy Policy
- GitHub: stores the site's source code (the website files themselves). Does not receive your personal information in the normal course of operation. GitHub Privacy Statement
I don't share your information with anyone else, and I don't sell it. Ever.
4. Cookies and tracking
I don't run analytics software on this site. I don't run advertising pixels. I don't run retargeting scripts. I don't track you across other sites.
Cookies that may appear anyway:
- MailerLite may set cookies related to the newsletter signup form.
- Formspree may set cookies related to the contact form.
- Railway / browser defaults may set cookies required for the site to function (session stability, load balancing, that sort of thing).
None of these are used to build a profile of you or serve you ads. If my tracking footprint ever changes — if I add analytics, or embed third-party content, or do anything that would meaningfully affect your privacy — I will update this policy and note the change.
You can block or clear cookies in your browser settings at any time. The site will still work.
5. Your rights
You can:
- Unsubscribe from the newsletter any time, using the unsubscribe link at the bottom of every email. MailerLite honors it instantly.
- Ask me what I have on you. Email me through the contact form and I'll tell you what's in my MailerLite list and/or Formspree inbox under your name or email.
- Ask me to delete it. I'll remove you from MailerLite and delete any stored contact form submissions. Reply confirming it's done.
- Correct it. If I have something wrong, tell me.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws like the GDPR (EU/UK), CCPA/CPRA (California), or other state privacy laws. If you want to exercise those rights, contact me and I'll comply. I don't charge for it, and I don't make you jump through hoops.
6. Data retention
- Newsletter subscribers stay on the list until they unsubscribe or ask to be removed. If the list gets scrubbed for inactive addresses from time to time, those are removed too.
- Contact form submissions are kept in my inbox as long as the conversation is active or useful. Formspree retains submissions according to their own retention policy.
- Server logs are kept by my hosting provider per their policy.
7. Security
I use reputable third-party providers (listed above) who handle data security as part of their service. I don't store sensitive personal information on this site myself. No system is perfectly secure, but the attack surface here is small because the data footprint is small.
8. Children
This site is not directed at children under 13, and I don't knowingly collect information from them. If you're a parent or guardian and you believe your child signed up for the newsletter, contact me and I'll remove them.
9. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes in a material way, I'll update the "Last updated" date at the top and note the change in the newsletter. Your continued use of the site after an update means you accept the updated policy.
10. Contact
Questions about this policy, your data, or anything else privacy-related: use the contact form.
Governing law: This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of the State of Ohio, USA.
